third eye book store merch fundraiser

The Poet Lady Rose and Third Eye Book Store partner for a merch collaboration to aid in their fundraising efforts. As of October 2022, Third Eye Books is the ONLY Black-owned brick and mortar book store in the entire state of Oregon. Tiny but mighty, owned and operated by husband and wife team Michelle Lewis and Charles Hannah, have managed to garner multiple local, regional and national acknowledgements and awards for their exemplary customer service, uniqueness, breadth and depth of title selection, as well as being a place of community connection, bridging cultural and generational gaps, while unapologetically prioritizing and elevating the authors and culture of the Black/African Diaspora. Charles and Michelle seek to expand their business and work to serve more people in the community by building a ADA accessible ramp, as well as buying and remodeling a vehicle to be used as a bookmobile to go to folks who may have limited access to transportation or are otherwise limited by health to come to their flagship location in the Richmond neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. Forty percent (40%) of the proceeds of the merch purchased highlighting Third Eye Books (designed by The Poet Lady Rose) will go towards their fundraiser to help achieve the aforementioned goals. Your purchase will not only support one Black-owned business, but two. Thank you in advance for your support! More about Third Eye Books can be found here: https://linktr.ee/Thirdeyebag

Michelle Lewis and Charles Hannah, owners of Third Eye Books Accessories and Gifts. The ONLY Black-owned brick and mortar book store in Oregon.

Many times, folks seek knowledge, but don't want to do the work. Good thing there's an endless supply of books by diverse authors whose work entertains, while simultaneously challenging us, speaking to and making us think on our past and present worlds and imagining what our future could be. A trailblazer (see Afro-futurism) and seemingly a prophet, as her writings have foretold the state of society today, Octavia Butler, a Black American, queer sci-fi author is a great example of this. So, do the work (or help others do the work), starting with getting this shirt and some Octavia Butler today!
